I had several choices of what to write and post today. I wrote about a few subjects and couldn’t decide.
Then something happened. And I knew it was this one…
Of course, I had to address the subject of Haters. Let’s get it out of the way.
If I could give you the world on a silver platter… Would it even matter?
When I was a little girl, my mother always said “you can please some of the people some of the time, but, you will never please everyone all the time”.
You’d still be mad at me.
I was raised in a very strict, very devout religious home. I’ve always loved God, so he was never an issue for me.
I got into trouble when I was younger, I mean elementary school young. I was bored and school didn’t challenge me enough.
I got good grades in school and I was the kid that every parent wanted. I didn’t know it.
I didn’t have too many friends. I was only allowed to be friends with those who were the same religion as my household.
They were into dating and stuff. Me, not so much. It was not an option.
My household was so strict that when I became a member of the National Honor Society, I was not allowed to attend the ceremony or dinner. My mother thought my “head might get too big”.
Then it started happening.
Someone who I thought was my friend lied about me.
Would you believe that my mother was convinced that I was sneaking out of the house to attend parties late at night?
Even though my bedroom was right next to hers.
No matter where I live, despite the things I give…
Straight A student, not in trouble.
A hater is someone “who is mad at somebody about their blessings.”
Years later, my friend’s dad passed away.
Then I found out.
She told the lie, because her dad always compared her to me.
If only….she was more like me.
What I got I paid for, you can hate on me!
Hater’s are really people who admire you and are too insecure to tell you.
They wish they were you.
They wish they had your life.
But, they don’t want to put in the work to get where you are.
In a relationship.
In a job.
They want what you have and are MAD about it.
Could be a family member.
Could be a friend.
Could be someone you’ve never met.
“If I could find in all of this a dozen roses, which I would give to you…..
You would still be miserable.”
Go ahead and hate on my hater, I’m not afraid.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper!
I’ve come to realize another truth my mother spoke.
“If they’re talking about you, you must be doing something right. It’s when they stop talking that I wonder.”
Think of haters as free cheerleaders. Rise above them.
Do you. And do you, WELL!
And hater, the evil you had intended for me, God turned into a blessing, WITH MY NAME ON IT 🙂
